Publishing & Backups
Local project versus Workshop item
Your editable Creator Studio project lives locally. A Workshop item is the published copy players subscribe to. Publishing is not a backup strategy.
Before publishing
- Fix every red issue.
- Understand every remaining warning.
- Open a visual Test Pack.
- Simulate at least 100 packs.
- Confirm front, back, wrapper, icon, finish, price, and card count.
- Click SAVE and wait for green SAVED.
- Choose Save Backup from the project dashboard.
- Increase the project version for an update.
Workshop preview art
- Card-set icons should be square, ideally 512 x 512.
- Room themes use their 16:9 background in Creator Studio.
- When a square Workshop icon is needed for a room theme, the game can place the 16:9 art inside a square image with black letterboxing instead of stretching it.
- Keep important detail large enough to read in the in-game Workshop list.
First publication
Choose Publish to Steam. Complete the title, description, visibility, tags, and required platform confirmation. After Steam returns the Workshop identity, keep editing the same local project for future updates.
Updating safely
- Open the existing project.
- Keep all released IDs stable.
- Increase the version.
- Make and test changes.
- Save another
.ripsetbackup. - Choose Update on Steam.
Do not import a released project as a brand-new identity merely to update it. That creates a separate project and can break continuity for subscribers.
Stable IDs
Names and artwork may change; released IDs should not. Set, card, variant, rarity, product, slot, and rule IDs allow existing saves to recognize updated content.
Portable .ripset backups
A .ripset contains the project data and embedded assets needed to move or recover the project. Store backups outside the game's project folder and keep the original source artwork too.
Content responsibility
Publish only work you have permission to share. Use original or properly licensed artwork, names, audio, and branding. The game does not grant rights to third-party material included in a community project.
